Design and create your own postcards

Postcards are one of the most popular of postal submissions. Did you know that you can send any scrap of paper as a postcard, as long as it has the appropriate size and stamped? This means you can create your own postcards whenever you want, and you’ll never bother to buy or find a good postcard in the market. Read the guidelines below for how to create great postcards for your family and friends.

Make cards

Prepare a paper that is thick and hard

In order for your postcard to not be damaged while on the go, use paper that is quite hard and thick like a postcard in general. If you’re afraid the paper you’re using is too thin, you can make it thicker by stacking and sticking some of the same paper.

Standards applicable in some countries require that each postcard has a thickness of at least 2 mm and a maximum of 2.5 mm, with a minimum weight of 1.5 grams and a maximum of 3 grams.

Cut the paper into the appropriate size

Take the ruler, measure the card, then cut the card to the applicable standard, which is at least 90 x 140 mm and maximum 120 x 235 mm (with 2 mm tolerance). Be careful in cutting the card, because the angle on your card should form a 90 degree angle. If not, then the postcard will not be delivered.

Draw a centerline on the back of your postcard

Once the paper you use has a form that matches the standard postcard in general, pull the center line on the back of the postcard. The space on the left side of this line will be used to write the message as well as the sender’s address, while the space on the right will be used to write the address of the recipient.

By postcard standards applicable in some countries, the midline should not be drawn completely from the center of the card. You should draw it with a ratio of 45:75. This is a pretty tough stage so if the cost estimation comparison is not too obvious, most people choose to use printing services, such as cheap 55 printing.

Draw an address line

On the right and left, drag a line to place the address of the recipient and the sender. Then draw also five small boxes on each side of the right and left to place the zip code. Also, do not forget to add “Postcard” on the top of the card, “Sender” at the sender’s address, and “Recipient” at the recipient’s address. Position of postcode box must also comply with applicable standards.
