Tips for an improved memory

A very common complaint amongst parents is that they find it very hard to make their kids concentrate and memorize when they are studying. Most of the kids find it quite difficult to retain whatever they learn and hence get bad grades. At such point of time, even the parents find themselves quite helpless and cannot pass the blame on the kid. The question is not who should take the responsibility, the question is what is the best solution to the problem. There are certain tips which can ensure that your child has a better memory:

Sleep: Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep. When a person is deprived of sleep, he cannot harness the complete power of the brain. In fact, most of the activities such as memory consolidation are carried out during the deepest levels of sleep. Hence, it is important for your child to have good night’s sleep so that the brain functions at its peak.

Fruits and vegetables: Make sure that he gets his share of vitamins, minerals and nutrients daily through rich fruits and vegetables. Most of the fruits and vegetables are loaded with antioxidants which play an important role in protecting the brain cells from damage. Even if your child isn’t fond of green leafy vegetables, make sure that he eats sufficient amount everyday. Vegetables such as spinach, broccoli, etc. should be included in your kid’s diet chart along with fruits such as bananas, apricots, mangoes and watermelon.

Repetition: Make sure that your child revises and repeats whatever he learns. Even if your child is a slow learner, this technique will surely help if revision is done at regular intervals. Developing a habit of preparing notes in your child to revisit them later will not only help your child in the present but also in the longer run.

Changing the lifestyle and following the above tips on a more stringent basis can help your child get the best.
